About Marrakech

The Red City – Where Tradition Meets Modernity
Marrakech, nicknamed the “Red City” due to the ochre color of its buildings, is one of Morocco’s most iconic imperial cities. Its historic heart, the Medina (UNESCO World Heritage Site), is a maze of winding alleys, bustling souks, magnificent palaces, and traditional riads.

Highlights not to miss:

  • Jemaa el-Fnaa Square: The legendary square that comes alive at night with storytellers, musicians, street food stalls, and snake charmers – a unique living spectacle.
  • Souks: A colorful labyrinth for shopping spices, rugs, crafts, and jewelry.
  • Jardin Majorelle: A vibrant blue oasis, formerly owned by Yves Saint Laurent, featuring a Berber museum.
  • Bahia Palace and Ben Youssef Medersa: Masterpieces of Islamic architecture with intricate zellige tiles, carved ceilings, and peaceful gardens.
  • Koutoubia Mosque: The iconic minaret that dominates the city skyline.

Marrakech provides the perfect setting to combine cutting-edge science with cultural discovery during the congress. Between intensive sessions and strolls through its fragrant alleys, enjoy warm Moroccan hospitality and exceptional cuisine (tagines, couscous, mint tea).
